- In just 5 days, you will trek over 65 km(40 miles) through Langtang Valley, experiencing breathtaking views, diverse landscapes, and rich Tamang culture.

But here’s the harsh truth, this trek isn’t exactly suited for beginners, as each day involves around 5 to 7 hours of trekking.
Furthermore, you will be trekking for consecutive days in steep ascents and high-altitude conditions. This can be extremely tiring for beginners.
However, if you still want to cover Langtang Valley Trek in 5 days, then we suggest you to do some exercise that increases your leg strength and endurance.

Is the Langtang Valley Trek 5 Day Package Right for You?
If you are a trekker with moderate or high experience, then this is exactly for you. This trek package demands you trek for at least 5 to 7 hours a day.
For the folks with limited trekking experience, we suggest you select the Langtang Valley Trek 11 Day package
In that package, you will have enough time to acclimatize to the high altitude.
If that doesn’t work for you guys, then we also have a package of 6 days. In that package, you only have to climb up till Kyanjin Ri. But, at the time of your return, we will arrange a chopper for you. (Yes, you will see Langtang Valley from the sky).
So, the 5-day package is ideal for:
- Trekkers with limited time.
- Trekkers who enjoy a bit of challenge.
- Trekkers already used to high-altitude conditions (above 4,000 m).

Now, let us give you an exact details of what you might be doing in each day through out your time in Langtang Valley.
Day 1: Kathmandu to Syabrubesi And Trek to Rimche

What To Expect In Day 1 ?
On day 1, we will begin with a 122 km (75 miles) drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi via Prithvi Highway. The drive itself offers views of rivers, hills, and local towns.
In the next 7 to 8 hours, we will finally reach Syabrubesi. On a normal package, we will take a rest and continue trekking from next day. But in this package, there won’t be a rest day.
Right after arriving at Syabrubesi, we will trek for another 4 hours to reach Rimche.

On the way, we will be crossing Langtang Khola Suspension Bridge. Let us warn you, you will fall in love with the view of Langtang River meeting Bhote Koshi River.
Talking about the elevation, on day 1 it gradually rises from 1,350 meters in Kathmandu to 1,460 meters in Syabrubesi, ending at 2,460 meters in Rimche.
Natural Highlights On Day 1 : Rhododendron forests, oak trees, and sightings of red pandas and Himalayan tahr.
Optional Activities That You Could Do In Day 1
- Visit the local Tamang villages
- Experience the unique culture and hospitality of Tamang Community.
- Explore the nearby hot springs in the evening for relaxation.
Day 2: Rimche to Langtang Village

What To Expect On Day 2?
Our day 2 starts from Rimche and goes all the way to Langtang Village. Today, we have to go through dense forest.
Then, after trekking for a while, we will open up to beautiful alpine meadows. Then we will reach one of the beautiful location of Langtang Valley i.e. Ghoda Tabela.
Fun fact: Ghoda Tabela literally means Horse Stable in Nepali.
In this village, we will see the full beauty of Langtang Lirung (7,227 m). Furthermore, when you see yaks grazing around and an area surrounded by pine forest, it gifts you peace on another level.
However, that’s not our final destination for the day. So after a quick break, we move on towards the Langtang Village.

On the way to Langtang Village, you can try to interact with the people from the Tamang community. If we are lucky, we might even hear traditional Himalayan music.
Trust me, it will be the highlight of the entire trip if this happens.
By the time you reach Langtang Village, you will realize on day 2 you have trekked for 5 to 6 hours and covered around 10 km (6.2 miles).
Now talking about the elevation, it drastically increases from 2,460 m in Rimche to 3,430 m at Langtang Village.
Natural Highlights on Day 2: Alpine meadows, pine forests, juniper bushes, and sightings of musk deer, Himalayan Black Bear and Yaks.
Optional Activities That You Could Do In Day 2
- Visit the local monastery in Langtang Village to learn about Buddhist practices.
- Engage in a cultural exchange with the villagers to understand their way of life.
Day 3: Langtang Village to Kyanjin Gompa And Optional Hike to Kyanjin Ri

What To Expect On Day 3?
Day 3, the last day of ascending and the most scenic day of the Langtang Valley Trek 5 days journey.
From the moment we leave Langtang Village, we will be walking through open valleys with views of mountains like Langtang Lirung, Kimshung, and Yubra Peak.
The first part of our trek takes us to Mundu Village. Surrounded by stone walls, this small settlement offers you a quiet peace that’s missing from your busy life.
We normally take a little break in this spot.

From here onwards, the trail gets combined with the sound of a flowing river which fills the whole valley with peace.
And at last, after walking for almost 4 hours and covering around 6 km (3.7 miles) , we will reach our destination, Kyanjin Gompa.
Here, you will also find the famous 700-year-old Kyanjin Monastery. Visiting this monastery will be like diving deep into the Himalayan Buddhist culture.
Natural Highlights On Day 3: Glacial streams, mountain meadows, Himalayan blue sheep, and rare birds like Himalayan monal (national bird of Nepal).
Optional Activities That You Could Do In Day 3
- Taste fresh yak cheese at the local cheese factory.
- Take short acclimatization hikes around Kyanjin Gompa for better adaptation to altitude.
Day 4: Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel

What To Expect In Day 4?
Our day 4 starts early as from today we will begin our journey back home.
While descending, our first target will be to reach Lama Hotel. While reliving the memory of our trek, we will cross Mundu Village and Langtang Village.

Then for a while, we take a rest at Ghoda Tabela. For a while, we will enjoy the open meadows and dense forests.
Note: We encourage you to talk to other fellow trekkers at Ghoda Tabela as it will increase your experience by multiple folds.
Finally, after trekking for about 6 to 7 hours, you will reach your destination, i.e., Lama Hotel. This day, we will cover about 21 km (13 miles).
Talking about elevation, we drop from 3,870 m at Kyanjin Gompa down to 2,470 m at Lama Hotel.
Natural Highlights on Day 4: Dense forests of bamboo and rhododendron, with possible sightings of wild boar and gray langur monkeys.
Optional Activities That You Could Do In Day 4
- Stop at the local tea houses along the way to sample traditional Nepali tea and snacks.
Day 5: Lama Hotel to Syabrubesi And Return to Kathmandu

What To Expect On Day 5?
Finally, the final day of our Langtang Valley Trek 5 days journey has arrived.
Today, our journey starts from Lama Hotel and our main aim today will be to reach Syabrubesi.
Compared to other days, today’s trek will feel much easier as we will be losing altitude.
You will retrace the same route that you took on day 1.
After 4 to 5 hours of trekking and covering around 20 km (12.4 miles), we will finally reach Syabrubesi.
Then, we will finally bid goodbye to Langtang Region and begin our journey back to Kathmandu.
Natural Highlights on Day 5: Subtropical forests and terraced fields.
Optional Activities On Day 5
- Visit the local hot springs near Syabrubesi for a relaxing soak before heading back to Kathmandu.
- Explore the local markets in Syabrubesi to purchase souvenirs and handicrafts.
How Difficult Is It To Complete Langtang Valley Trek In 5 Days?
Talking about the difficulty, the 5-day Langtang Valley Trek is generally moderate in difficulty. However, there are a few challenging sections, which is why we don’t suggest you try it in 5 days if you are a complete beginner.
In fact, even in the first two days, you will face an altitude gain of 1,000 m and 970 m, respectively. This can sometimes be incredibly difficult for complete beginners.
